Carrboro High School hosted its annual Powderpuff football game on Tuesday, November 19th. As per tradition, the night started with a matchup between the Sophomore team and the Junior team at 5:30.

After two 10 minute halves, the Sophomore class pulled up an upset against the Junior team, scoring two touchdowns and keeping the Juniors scoreless at 14-0.

The last Sophomore team to beat the Juniors is the current 2020 Senior class, who beat the Freshman class this year in a blowout 21-0 demolition after the end of the Sophomores v. Juniors semifinal matchup.

The highly anticipated Seniors v. Sophomores final began around 7:00 and lasted close to an hour. Early in the first half, Senior running back Brynn Holt-Ling put her team up by one touchdown on the Sophomores.

In what looked like it was going to be another blowout for the Seniors, the Sophomores played lockdown defense and held the Seniors out of the endzone for the rest of the first half.

Nearing the end of the second half, Senior quarterback Morgan Jackson iced the game with a short quarterback sneak for a touchdown, capping the Seniors victory to 14-0.

Led by four year coaches Braden Hunter, TK Paisant and Sajan Lamba, as well as assistant coach Nicholas Osborne, the class of 2020 outscored their opponents 35-0, coasting to their first Carrboro Powderpuff championship.
