October 21 through 25 is North Carolina Countdown to College Week at Carrboro High School. During this week, volunteers are available to help students complete residency, FAFSA and application forms. Additionally, some in-state colleges will be adjusting application fees for all students.

The event was established in 2005 at just one high school, but has since grown to include 293 schools statewide. In 2018, over 48,000 admission applications were submitted from over 18,000 students.

There will be a Durham Tech information session on Wednesday, October 23, from 6 to 8 pm where students can learn about The Promise Scholarship and other related opportunities. The week will additionally feature visits from six private universities. Students can also sign up for 1-on-1 assistance in the Media Center or stop by during lunch for walk-in availability. For more information, check your student email and the daily announcements.
