Carrboro athletics has finished the 2019‐2020 winter sports season. See below for more information on each team’s season.
Men’s basketball finished the season 16‐11 overall and 9‐3 in the conference. The team was led by seniors Jared Porter, who scored his 1000th point this season, and TK Paisant and helped by a number of underclassmen who stepped up. Following the regular season, the Jags placed second in the Mid‐State Conference tournament before advancing to the second round of the playoffs, where they lost 63‐83 to South Granville.
Women’s basketball finished the season 7‐16 and 4‐7 in conference play. Over the course of the season, the team has grown more unified and improved substantially in ball movement. To wrap up the season, the Jags lost in the Conference tournament to DSA by only 8 points.
Men’s swimming placed second at the conference meet before placing third at Regionals where junior Kieran Dewalt placed second in the 200 yard freestyle and the medley relay team won second overall in the 200 yard event. The team then placed eighth at the State Championship meet where Captain Alex Prakken placed fourth overall at States in the 200 yard IM and 100 yard breaststroke events.
Women’s swimming took first at the conference meet crowning Carrboro High the overall (men’s and women’s) Conference champions. The Jags then placed first at Regionals before becoming the 1A/2A State Champions in February. Several of the swimmers made All American times and senior Lucy Carroll was awarded the Sportsmanship Award.
Divers Rachel Vandrsea and Jenna Livers took first and second place at Regionals and eighth and fourteenth at States.
